“Old School” Marketing Strategies that Still Work

by Ryan Grassie - Jul. 12, 2017 at 4:55pm

Basic marketing strategies, also known as “old school” marketing, have been proven over the years to help businesses ramp up their marketing plans and brand awareness. These are basic marketing initiatives that came before the digital world and have been used by companies for many years. Here are some strategies that you might want to try out for your business!

Competitor Analysis

Conducting a competitor analysis can help you find a position within your market and give you an idea of your ideal customer. This step should be the first thing you do to build your entire marketing plan as it creates a baseline for your business and marketing initiatives. Keeping up to date on your competitors marketing can also help you come up with new and creative ideas for your company and how you can increase sales through these strategies.

Cold Email

Finding potential customer emails online is a simple task that can kick off your marketing strategies. After creating a list of emails, using a program like MailChimp will allow you to send company promotional emails to potential customers. Cold emailing can be considered a less intrusive way of marketing to customers than cold calling. It can be a successful strategy if the right people are emailed and the content of the email is straight to the point and engaging enough for people to open it.

Referral Program

Creating a referral program for current and future customers can help with your customer retention. This is an easy and smart way to keep customers coming back for repeat purchases and for keeping them in your good books. A referral program can be as simple as receiving a small discount or free item after collecting a certain amount of points from previous purchases. Having a referral program also creates an opportunity for your customers to recommend your products to others and speak positively about your brand.

Website

Creating a strategic website that can easily generate leads for your business is key to any marketing plan and to running a business. This plays a huge role on your digital strategy that can come after your try out these marketing ideas. Having a website that has necessary information about your company and is easy to navigate is the way you want to go in order to inform your customers and produce leads easily. Testimonials

Asking past customers for testimonials gives you easy content to share on your website and social media accounts. Having a testimonial section on your website also gives visitors the opportunity to get an idea of how you do business and treat customers. These testimonials can also be shared across all your social media platforms for the public to see.

Client Gifts

Sending thoughtful gifts to past clients allows you to create positive, lasting relationships that will benefit your business in the long run. Whatever you decide to send, make sure it has some type of reference to your company so the customer is reminded of the gesture for a good period of time. This marketing strategy is another way to create positive word of mouth between past, current and potential customers.

Flyers & Promotional Material

Leaving some type of flyer, brochure or promotional material explaining your services and products at local coffee shops, grocery stores or businesses is a low cost marketing strategy that can generate leads and brand awareness. Passing these types of marketing material out at local events is also a great location. Mail outs to apartments and houses can also create potential leads and brand awareness within your community.

Website Do’s and Don’ts

by Ryan Grassie - May. 5, 2017 at 5:48pm

When it comes to your website there are certain things you should have and things to avoid. We can help your company determine the best path to take for your website.

Here are some important things to have and some to stay away from:

  • DO invest in creating a professional and secure website for your business.
  • DO make it possible to contact you easily from the homepage.
  • DO bucket your content by theme and importance to your clients.
  • DO add your social buttons and a company blog.
  • DO add your business reviews and testimonials to your website homepage.
  • DON’T underestimate the importance of an easy to navigate website to generate leads.
  • DON’T bury or over complicate your contact form, this is an important part of your website.
  • DON’T publish irrelevant content with too many links, videos on auto-play or distracting pop-ups.
  • DON’T make it hard for a customer to find what they are looking for or they will leave within 30 seconds.
  • DON’T miss out on updating content. Blogs should be updated frequently to help get your site crawled by search engines more often.

Perfecting the Marketing Email

by Ryan Grassie - May. 3, 2017 at 7:38pm

Email marketing allows you to reach your target audience with content that is valuable and relevant to them. Consumers receive a variety of marketing emails each day, which means you need to know how to make the most of your email. Here are a few tips to get you started on email marketing:

Subject line

This part of the email determines whether or not your customer will open the email, which means it must be perfect! Try to keep it short and simple, but powerful enough to grab their attention. You can try asking a question or using emojis to keep them guessing.

Header

Your company logo should be displayed here, as this is the first thing customers will see once they open the email. You might also want to include a tagline. It’s a good idea to hire a graphic designer to set up your email template for you, so your company can look as professional and on brand as possible.

Body

This is the main content of the email. Try to keep sentences and paragraphs short to make sure all the information is read by the customer. Here you can include images, videos, illustrations, bold text, or bulleted lists to keep them engaged. Always double check your sentence structure and grammar as this is a representation of your company.

Signature

Include a line with the name of your company, your website URL and contact information. This will give your customers the opportunity to contact you directly if they wish, or visit your website to find out more about the company.

Social

Directly below your signature, most people have social icons that link to social media accounts. This is helpful because it gives customers another chance to interact with and learn more about your company and updates that may be relevant to them.

Using Social Media for your Business

by Ryan Grassie - Apr. 7, 2017 at 6:54pm

Social media channels are extremely useful for companies to interact with customer or potential customers, to create brand awareness amongst thousands of people and to share important content about their business, service or product.

Most business owners know it’s important to implement a social media strategy into their marketing plan, but very few know how to go about it. Here are some tips on where to start:

  1. Educate yourself – just like any marketing initiative in the digital world there are always new things to learn about social media. Taking the time to learn about every different channel will help you determine which ones will work best for your company.
  2. Remember branding – it is important to have all your channels follow your company’s branding guidelines. This could involve resizing your logo to have as your display photo or create on brand banner images for your social pages.
  3. Write a plan – this is key to stay on track and consistent with your posting. Start with figuring out what your keywords will be, so you have an idea of what kind of posts you will be forming. Next create a social calendar where you can mark what post will be going out each day – you can try doing this a month or two in advance if that works for you.
  4. Set time each day – it may seem like you won’t need to monitor your social channels each day, but this can be a full time job! Set a time each day where you will sit down, monitor your channels and interact with customers, this will help build you social presence.
  5. Ask for help – because this can be a full time job, it’s okay to ask for help. Hire a social media manager that can help you stay on top of your social presence. We offer social media services and would love to help all businesses build a successful following on social media.

Web Design Trend Predictions for 2016

by Ryan Grassie - Oct. 16, 2015 at 3:36am

Rich Graphic Text: The websites of 2016 should see a lot of creative use of text that is comprised of lots of images, textures and different patterns. Typography and creative fonts have always been a significant part of any good web design, but with the integration of texts and other graphical elements, it will now be even more important in the overall website look and feel.

Customer Centric Website Design: The idea that your website design should be guided by your customers’ needs sounds self explanatory, but yet it is now only starting to gain traction as a serious consideration in the design process. Customer centric web design promotes designers and site owners to envision the customers’ journey through your website and to optimize the site in order to make the customer’s journey even more rich.

Centered Content – Secondary Pages: A powerful new style that will become ever more prevalent on homepage designs is centered content. This style which places the main message of the page at the center of the viewing area, surrounded by a visual or a smooth textured area that creates a dramatic effect for the viewer. This layout works great on website pages that want to emphasize a minimal amount of content.

Split Content: With centered layouts being used more on content-light pages, pages that carry more punch will also get a facelift with split content layout. Split content divides the screen into wide content areas, not Pinterest like style boxes. The look of each different section can be different, not being dictated by a single design tone. This gives designers an opening for creativity without threatening the clarity of the content hierarchies.
